Botanic Gardens: We took the cable car to the gardens then walked back down. The cable car is not free, but the gardens are free. Walking through the gardens is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Museum of New Zealand: Lots of exhibits covering a variety of subjects. Entry to the museum is free as are most of the exhibits. When we went there was a special exhibit on European painters. The special exhibit was not free, but it was worth the money. If you are in Wellington this should be on your list of placed to stop.

Mount Victoria: We drove up to the top of Mount Victoria. At the top you get a great view of the city and the surrounding area.

Old St. Pauls Church: Beautiful wood work and stained glass windows.
